Created in 2017, the immunotherapy cancer center is co-directed by Sebastian Amigorena, scientific director specialized in immunology and by Emanuela Romano, medical director specialized in translational immunology and early clinical trials in immunotherapy.
The singularity of this structure is the grouping of doctors, researchers (fundamental and translational), caregivers and patients. The concentration of key players in a single location aims to encourage frequent exchanges, foster innovation and accelerate the transfer of researchers’ discoveries to clinical applications.
The opening of the center is based in particular on the work and developments carried out within the frame of the immunology/immunotherapy SIRIC program including the recruitment of 2 translational research teams:
- Equipe Recherche translationnelle en immunothérapie dirigée par Eliane Piaggio (TransIm)
- Equipe Réponse au traitement et résidu tumoral dirigiée par Fabien Reyal (RT2)
