Study day: Operated bodies, (in)operable bodies in the era of oncogenetics
Coordinated by members of the GOPxie collective: the Gender of Oncoprophylaxis, with the support of SiRIC CURAMUS, Cermes3, Sorbonne University and the Biomedical Humanities Initiative (HuBioMed), this multidisciplinary study day aimed to open a dialogue between researchers in the human and social sciences (HSS), health professionals and members of associations around the question of interventions on the body, whether therapeutic or preventive, specifically in the sub-field of cancerology recently transformed by the integration of genetic knowledge.
It aimed to specifically examine the differential treatment of women's and men's bodies, drawing on work that sheds light on gender relations and the ways in which social inequalities in health are produced. It also aimed to make visible the lived experiences of the various actors in the health field: patients and their families, health professionals and members of associations.
