Patient-clinician-researcher meeting days
Since 2017, SIRIC Curie has been working on developing health democracy in a research setting. It relies on a dedicated task force composed of patient representatives, clinicians and researchers.
Among the concrete actions of the group, the meeting days bringing together patients, researchers and clinicians figure prominently. Some have become annual events, such as the metastatic breast cancer days or the days dedicated to uveal melanoma.
These meetings contribute to informing patients and their families about the disease, care and progress in research and foster a dialogue between the communities, which could have a great leverage effect on the emergence of new projects or research issues, etc.
Metastatic breast cancer
Since 2019, the inter-associative collective 1310 and the SIRIC's health democracy group have been inviting patients to a meeting day totally dedicated to metastatic breast cancers. At this event, open to all, the disease is discussed in all its dimensions: medical, societal and research.
A recording of these days is available as well as surveys carried out by the collective and a compilation of some reliable information sources:
Uveal melanoma
Every year since 2018, the Institut Curie uveal melanoma team and the SIRIC health democracy group have been mobilizing experts to give feedback to the patient community on clinical trials and research work, to inform about the disease and to answer questions. While uveal melanoma is a rare disease, these meetings bring together nearly 200 people.
